C—C-and N—N-linked Pyrrole Dimers: The Stabilisation of Complex Systems by the CF3S Group as a Substituent2,3,4,5-Tetrakis(trifluoromethylthio)pyrrol-1-yl silver (2) reacts with iodine in pentane to give 2,2′,3,3′,4,4′,5,5′-octakis(trifluoromethylthio)-2,2′-bi-2H-pyrrole (4). Oxidation of 2,3,4,5-Tetrakis(trifluoromethylthio)pyrrole with PbO2 or nickel peroxide in solution leads to the 2,3,4,5-tetrakis(trifluoromethylthio)pyrrlyl radical 5. At 20°C 4 dissociates reversibly to 5. Above 120 to 130°C 4 is converted to the stable 2,2′,3,3′,4,4′,5,5′-octakis(trifluoromethylthio)-1,1′-bipyrrole (6). Thermodynamic data, ENDOR, TRIPLE, ESR, 19F-NMR, IR, and mass spectra as well as the crystal structure of 6 are reported.
    Notes: 2,3,4,5-Tetrakis(trifluormethylthio)pyrrol-1-yl-silber (2) reagiert mit Iod in Pentan zu 2.2′,3,3′,-4,4′,5,5′-Octakis(trifluormethylthio)-2,2′-bi-2H-pyrrol (4). Die Oxidation von 2,3,4,5-Tetrakis-(trifluormethylthio)pyrrol (1) mit PbO2 bzw. Nickelperoxid in Lösung führt zum 2,3,4,5-Tetrakis(trifluormethylthio)pyrrolyl-Radikal 5. Bei 20°C dissoziiert 4 reversibel zu 5. Oberhalb 120 bis 130°C wandelt sich 4 zum stabilen 2,2′,3,3′,4,4′,5,5′-Octakis(trifluormethylthio)-1,1′-bipyrrol (6). um. Thermodynamische Daten, ENDOR-, TRIPLE-, ESR-, 19F-NMR-, IR- und Massen-spektren sowie die Kristallstruktur von 6 werden angegeben.
