The TiB/Ti metal matrix composites (MMCs) with different volume fractions of in situTiB reinforcements were spark plasma sintered at 1000 °C with a pressure of 20 MPa for 5 minutesin vacuum. The in situ synthesized TiB is whisker shape with a hexagonal transverse section anddistributes uniformly and randomly in the Ti matrix. The Young’s modulus of TiB wasback-calculated from the elastic properties of the composites using the Halpin-Tsai model. TheYoung’s moduli of all the composites were found to increase with the increase of TiB volumefraction. The calculated value of TiB Young’s modulus is about 489±83GPa. Values of Young’smoduli of TiB whisker obtained according to different methods were compared and discussed
