Notes:
The application of liquid chromatography mass spectrometry to two groups of thermally labile pesticides, carbamates and ureas, is reported using a moving belt interface system with methane as reagent gas. Thermal decomposition of six selected representative members of these two chemical classes has been successfully avoided by this technique and in many cases, molecular weight evidence was available for detection and characterization. Moreover, the system was explored as to its quantitative capabilities and the preliminary results have indicated that such an analytical approach is satisfactory for regulatory analysis of crop residues at the ppm level.
