Properties of the weldable and corrosion resistant steel X 2 CrNiMoN 25 22In view of the limited application of con- ventional CrNiMo steels the authors have investigated potential applications of the above mentioned steel. An optimum com- position would be (%) 0.02 C, 25Cr, 22 Ni, 2 Mo and 0.1 N. The low carbon content is a vital factor and the nickel content must not exceed 22% because higher contents would give rise to very pronounced precipitation. The new steel ist largely resistance to boil- ing nitric acid it is considerably superior to conventional steels, The high break-through potential is indicative of high pitting resist- ance. Improvements are equally remarkable with respect to mecanical properties and weldability

Aufgrund der Grenzen fur die Anwendung herkömmlicher CrNiMo-Stahle haben die Verf. Anwendungsmöglichkeiten fiir den obengenannten Stahl erarbeitet. Die opti- male Zusammensetzung betragt etwa (%) 0,02C, 25 Cr, 22 Ni, 2 Mo und O, I N. Der niedrige Kohlenstoffgehalt ist sehr wesentlich und der Nickelgehalt darf 22% nicht übersteigen, denn bei höheren Gehalten kommt es zu ausgeprägten Ausscheidungsvorgängen. Der neue Stahl ist weitgehend beständig gegen interkristalline Korrosion und ist hinsichtlich der Beständigkeit gegen siedende Salpetersäure den herkömmlichen Stahlen beträchtlich überlegen. Das hohe Durchbruchspotential ist ein Indiz fiir hohe Lochfrafibeständigkeit. Die Verbesserungen gegenuber den herkömmlichen Stahlen er- strecken sich auch auf die mechanischen Eigenschaften und die Schweißbarkeit.
