Zinntetraphenyl reagiert bei ca. 200° mit elementarem Selen unter Bildung von Triphenylzinn-selenophenol und Diphenylselenid. Aus Zinntetrabutyl und Selen entsteht unter den gleichen Bedingungen neben Dibutylselen ringförmiges, trimeres Dibutylzinnselenid.
