Influence of Substituents on the Primary Mass Spectrometric Degradation Reactions of Aliphatic CompoundsThe different influence of substituents on the fragmentation in the mass spectrometer was studied with bifunctional model compounds. If the functional groups are arranged according to increasing influence on the fragmentation, the following sequence is obtained: A comparison between the mass spectrometric degradation reactions of bifunctional compounds with those of the corresponding monofunctional compounds shows that cleavage reactions concerning bonds in direct neighbourhood of the charged center proceed in both classes of compounds in a similar way. In contrast reactions concerning bonds in greater distance from the charged center (e. g. HX-eliminations), are influenced to a high extend by the presence of the second not ionised functional group.

Der verschieden starke Einfluß von Substituenten auf die Bruchstückbildung im Massenspektrometer wurde an bifunktionellen Modellverbindungen untersucht.Ordnet man die funktionellen Gruppen nach steigendem Einfluß auf die Bruchstückbildung an, so ergibt sich folgende Reihung: Ein Vergleich der massenspektrometrischen Abbaureaktionen der bifunktionellen Verbindungen mit den entsprechenden monofunktionellen ergibt, daß Spaltreaktionen, welche in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft des Ladungszentrums einsetzen, in beiden Verbindungsklassen analog verlaufen. Spaltreaktionen hingegen, welche vom Ladungszentrum weiter entfernte Bindungen betreffen (z. B. HX-Abspaltungen) werden stark von der Gegenwart der zweiten, nicht ionisierten funktionellen Gruppe beeinflußt.
