Photoelectron Spectra and Molecular Properties, XXVII. Chloro- and Bromoethylenes - Example for Modifications of π- and σ-SystemsThe photoelectron (PE) spectra of the mono- and disubstituted ethylenes display up to 9 distinct bands. The assignment, based on qualitative MO-models, is substantiated by spectroscopic comparison, perfluoro effects, and vibrational fine structures. From the assigned spectra MO-parameters are uniquely determined. Thus the differently extended π-systems can be described in terms of inductive and conjugative effects of the halogens.

Die Photoelektronen (PE)-Spektren der mono- und disubstituierten Chlor- und Bromäthylene zeigen bis zu 9 isolierte Banden. Die Zuordnung anhand qualitativer MO-Modelle wird durch Spektrenvergleich, Perfluor-Effekte und Schwingungsfeinstrukturen gesichert. Aus den zugeordneten Spektren lassen sich MO-Parameter ablesen. Diese erlauben, die π-Systeme der verschiedenen Substitutionstypen mit induktiven und konjugativen Effekten der Halogene zu beschreiben.
