Investigations in the Isochroman and Isothiochroman Series, XVIII. The Reaction of 1-Chloroisothiochroman with DiazomethaneDiazomethane reacts with 1-chloroisothiochroman (1) to give equivalent amount of 2-chloro-1,2,4,5 -tetrahydro-3-benzothiepine (11) and 1-(chloromethyl)isothiochroman (12). The structure has been proved via the dehydrohalogenation products 1,2 dihydro-3-benzothiepine (14) and 1-methylene-isothiochroman (13) as well as with the help of the corresponding sulfones 15, 16, 17, and 18. In order to confirm structure 16, the isomeric 1-chloro-1,2,4,5-tetrahydro-3-benzothiepine-3,3-dioxide (9) was prepared by a different method.

Bei der Einwirkung von Diazomethan auf 1-Chlorisothiochroman (1) entstehen in etwa gleicher Menge 2-Chlor-1,2,4,5-tetrahydro-3-benzothiepin (11) und 1-(Chlormetyl)isothiochroman (12). Die Strukturaufklärung erfolgte über die Dehydrochlorierungsprodukte 1,2-Dihydro-3-benzothiepin (14) und 1-Methylenisothiochroman (13) sowie die zugehörigen Sulfone 15, 16, und 18. Zur Sicherung der Konstitution von 16 wurde auf unabhängigem Wege das isomere 1-Chlor-1,2,4,5-tetrahydro-3-benzothiepin-3,3-dioxid (9) dargestellt.
