Electronic Structure of the 1,1,3,3-Tetrakis(dimethylamino)allyl CationSemiempirical calculations of the CNDO/2 type for the cation 1 show the conjugation of the amino groups with the allyl system to be very efficient, in spite of the twisted structure of 1. This conjugation leads to a high negative charge at C-2. Correspondingly the 13C n.m.r. signal for C-2 is found at a very high field.

Semiempirische Berechnungen nach dem CNDO/2 -Verfahren zeigen, daß im Kation 1 die Konjugation des Allylsystems mit den Aminogruppen trotz der verdrillten Struktur sehr wirksam ist und daß dadurch eine hohe negative Ladung an C-2 entsteht. Im Einklang damit wird im 13C-NMR-Spektrum eine sehr starke Abschirmung des Atoms C-2 gefunden.
