Synthesis of Homocamphenilone and HomocampheneHomocamphenilone (8) was synthesized in only 3 steps with an overall yield of about 60%. The conversion of 8 via homocamphene hydrate (12) into homocamphene (13) succeeded nearly quantitatively. 13 could be transformed by means of the Bertram-Walbaum reagent into the new alcohol 14 with bicyclo[3.2.1]octane skeleton.

Homocamphenilon (8) wurde in nur 3 Stufen mit einer Gesamtausbeute von 60% synthetisiert. Die Überführung von 8 via Homocamphenhydrat (12) in Homocamphen (13) gelang nahezu quantitative. 13 lagert sich in Gegenwart der Bertram-Walbaum-Mischung in den neuen Alkohol 14 mit Bicyclo[3.2.1]octan-Gerüst um.
