Notes:
Polarization is shown to play a non-negligible role in two properties of the ground state of benzene-iodine type complexes: their dipole moment, and the halogen infrared spectrum. These results, compared with preceding results concerning π-π complexes, suggest that the ground-state properties of charge-transfer complexes should not be interpreted exclusively by the usual resonance mode.
