In the system Ag2O—Fe2O3, besides the known α-AgFeO2 with octahedrally coordinated Fe, there exists still another, less stable phase β-AgFeO2 with tetrahedrally coordinated Fe. The situation is analogous in the system Cu2O—Fe2O3. In the system Tl2O—Fe2O3, however, only β-TlFeO2 with tetrahedrally coordinated Fe is known.

Im System Ag2O—Fe2O3 existiert neben dem bekannten α-AgFeO2 mit oktaedrisch koordiniertem Fe auch ein β-AgFeO2, in dem das Eisen tetraedrisch koordiniert ist. Die stabile Phase ist α-AgFeO2. Analog liegen die Verhältnisse im System Cu2O—Fe2O3. Im System Tl2O—Fe2O3 dagegen ist nur β-TlFeO2 mit tetraedrisch koordiniertem Fe stabil.
