Description / Table of Contents: A compact snow-white precipitate was obtained by autoclaving a solution of alum at 220°C. It was found by means of electron diffraction that the structure of the precipitate agrees with that of χ-Al2O3, viz. hexagonal lattice, a0 = 5.64 and c0 = 8.55 Å.

Notes: Die Behandlung einer wäßrigen Alaunlösung im Autoklaven bei 220°C liefert eine dichte schneeweiße Fällung. Nach Elektronenbeugungsaufnahmen handelt es sich bei dem Niederschlag um das hexagonal kristallisierende χ-Al2O3 mit a0 = 5,64 und c0 = 8,55 Å.
