Notizen: Recently, theoretical error analysis for alternating-direction methods using isoparametric elements has been done by the author. Here the implementation of these methods is described for nonlinear parabolic boundary-value problems, and numerical results using these methods are presented. With an alternating-direction method, multidimensional problems can be solved as a series of one-dimensional problems. This results in great savings of both computation time and storage compared to standard finite element techniques.
