It is shown that the sedimentation and diffusion constants of cellulose at infinite dilution conform with a formula derived on the assumption of randomly coiled structures. The principle is introduced that the sedimentation velocity of closely packed particles moving through a liquid exerts an influence on their motion, according to known hydrodynamic laws.
