    Notes: Abstract This paper provides an overview of the broadband access technologies that can be used to deliver IP-based services. It describes BT's architecture for delivery of IP services over asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) and then explains the evolution of this wire-line delivery mechanism towards higher bandwidth hybrid fibre/copper access architectures using APON and VDSL.
