Abstract It is found agreement between the two radial temperature distributions determinded by measuring the absolute intensities of an atomic line of fluorine as well as an ionic line of sulphur provided that demixing effects were taken into account. These results confirmes the theoretical calculations of plasma demixing given byFrie. In addition, the determination of the electrical conductivity and the heat conductivity was continued towards higher temperatures, the results were compared with the theory. Measurements of the radiation up to 150 Amp showed that the values obtained for an arc in SF6 are small compared with those of an arc in Ar and even lower then in N2.
