Summary 1. The addition of nicotinamide in a final concentration of 4 × 10−2m during storage of blood inhibitis even after 5 weeks the normally occuring decrease of the erythrocyte NAD content. 2. This addition of nicotinamide has no effect on the survival of the stored red cells.

Zusammenfassung 1. Wird Nicotinsäureamid in einer Endkonzentration von 4 · 10−2m Blutkonserven zugesetzt, ist auch nach 5 Wochen die sonst eintretende Abnahme der NAD-Konzentration in den Erythrocyten nicht zu beobachten. 2. Dieser Zusatz von Nicotinsäureamid bewirkt jedoch keine Verbesserung der Überlebensfähigkeit der gelagerten roten Blutzellen.
