Zusammenfassung Patienten mit chronisch obstruktiver Bronchitis (Nichtatopiker) haben signifikant erhöhte Plasma-Histaminkonzentrationen. Die Histaminkonzentrationen im Vollblut spiegeln ganz überwiegend die Basophilen-Konzentration wider. Auch hierbei liegen die Werte der Patienten höher als diejenigen der gesunden Kontrollpersonen. Auffallend ist immer, daß einzelne Patienten Werte zeigen, die deutlich außerhalb des physiologischen Streubereiches liegen. Im venösen Plasma werden etwa 2/3 der arteriellen Werte an Histamin gefunden. Die Histaminkonzentration in den basophilen Leukozyten ist zwischen der Kontrollgruppe und den Patienten mit chronisch obstruktiver Bronchitis nicht signifikant unterschiedlich. Die Plasma-Histaminkonzentrationen spiegeln die in der Bronchialwand vor sich gehende Freisetzung mit hohen lokalen Konzentrationen wider. Die gefundenen Plasma-Histaminkonzentrationen sind nicht in der Lage, die Atemwegsobstruktion als durch humoral an die Bronchialmuskulatur herangeführtes Histamin induziert zu erklären.

Summary Patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis (non atopics) show significant increased histamine concentrations in the plasma. In these patients the histamine concentration in the whole blood was also higher. The histamine concentration in the blood reflect primarily the concentration of basophiles. In individual patients very high plasma and whole blood histamine concentrations were found. The concentration of histamine in the venous plasma was about 2/3 of this of the arterial plasma. No difference in basophile histamine concentration was observed between patients and controls. The histamine concentrations in the plasma reflect primarily the high local histamine concentration in the bronchial mucosa. The plasma histamine concentration itself does not act as direct bronchoconstrictor. The histamine dependend bronchoconstriction is believed to be mostly reflex bronchoconstriction by challenge locally the sensoric receptors in the bronchial mucosa.
