Abstract. A one-dimensional physical model and a numerical method for the simulation of heterogeneous detonation were proposed based on an Eulerian approach for heterogeneous flows. The combination of modern shock-capturing schemes in combination with a dynamically moving, adaptive grid ensure the properresolution of both reaction zones and flow discontinuities. Numerical examples illustrate the effect of the heat release due to heterogeneous combustion.
