Description / Table of Contents: Contents At the interface between electrode and electrolyte, electrons are set free by the electrode reaction. Already inside the electrode, electrons have to migrate through several series resistors. Thus, a part of the cell voltage will be lost. In heavily discharged automotive batteries — rate 3 to 6 min. — the voltage drop across the metallic grid cannot be longer neclected. Therefore, a grid resistance optimalization seems meritorious and useful. However, to effect this, a suitable measuring procedure had to be found out, which allows the evaluation of effective grid resistances and voltage drop predictions.
