Summary The activity of the enzymes lactate dehydrogenase and malate dehydrogenase was determined in the red cell hemolysate of 20 families; 40 adults and 35 children. Agreement of enzyme activity of genetically different parents was found in 30% of lactate dehydrogenase and 45% of malate dehydrogenase. Of the 35 children 63% had a lactate dehydrogenase and 68% a malate dehydrogenase correlation which did not differ by more than 10%. The question of genetic or metabolic variability of enzyme activity is discussed.

Zusammenfassung Die Aktivitäten der Enzyme Lactat-Dehydrogenase und Malat-Dehydrogenase wurden im Erythrozytenhämolysat von 20 Familien, 40 Erwachsenen mit 35 Kindern bestimmt. Eine Übereinstimmung der Enzymaktivitäten der genetisch verschiedenen Eltern wurde für die Lactat-Dehydrogenase in 30% und für die Malat-Dehydrogenase in 45% der Fälle gefunden. Von den 35 Kindern waren bei 63% die Lactat-Dehydrogenase- und bei 68% die Malat-Dehydrogenase-Relation nicht mehr als 10% different. Die Frage der genetischen oder stoffwechselabhängigen Variabilität der Enzymaktivitäten wurde diskutiert.
