Summary Report on an asymmetrically located heterotopic plexus corpuscle in the right thalamus without clinical symptoms. The calcium mineral could not be further identified by means of polarization microscopy. Histochemically, however, mucopolysaccharide was proved in the calcified concrements and in the walls of the vessels. The role of carbohydrates in the process of mineralization is mentioned.

Zusammenfassung Es wird über ein asymmetrisch gelegenes, heterotopes Plexuskörperchen im rechten Thalamus berichtet, das klinisch keine Symptome verursacht hatte. Das Kalkmineral ließ sich polarisationsoptisch nicht weiter differenzieren. Histochemisch konnte jedoch der Gehalt an Mucopolysacchariden in den verkalkten Konkrementen und Gefäßwänden nachgewiesen werden. Die Rolle der Kohlenhydrate bei den Mineralisationsvorgängen wird angedeutet.
