Zusammenfassung Im Reissnerschen Faden des Rindes konnte durch histochemische und biochemische Untersuchungen Sialinsäure nachgewiesen werden. Der Sialinsäuregehalt beträgt ca. 3,2% der Trockensubstanz. Es wird für möglich gehalten, daß der Reissnersche Faden im Sinne eines Kationenaustauschers eine puffernde Wirkung auf Konzentrations-änderungen von biogenen Aminen im Liquor hat.

Summary Histochemical and biochemical studies have demonstrated the occurrence of sialic acid in the Reissner's fibre of the ox. The content of sialic acid is about 3,2% related to dry substance. It is just possible that by cation-exchange the fibre balances the concentration of biogenic amines in the cerebrospinal fluid.
