Abstract A computational method is reviewed, in which the solution of systems of nonlinear differential equations is written in terms of a Volterra functional series. Results of implementing the aforementioned technique in a computer program (exploiting new software for symbolic manipulation) and of applying it to a nonlinear oscillator model are presented. The relevance of this approach to Auditory System modeling is discussed. Suggestions are given, regarding possible applications to Speech Recognition problems.
