Abstract The resonance method of transient stress wave propagation is employed for the detection of flaws in concrete. Quantitative analysis of the spectra identifies the resonance mode due to reflection from the flaw, and enables the exclusion of the flexural modes of the concrete plate above the flaw. Two-dimensional scanning of a test point provides the information about the depth of internal flaws. The test results of a large concrete block containing several types of artificial flaws are presented.
