Notes:
Summary Compounds of different chemical type can be concentrated on a precolumn containing thermostable 2,6-diphenyl-p-phenylene oxide porous polymer and transferred to a gas chromatographic column. The representation of trapped organics in a high-resolution chromatogram can be explained primarily on the basis of frontal chromatography, displacement, and irreversible-adsorption phenomena. The effect of sampling variables is demonstrated with complex chromatograms of sage leaf headspace.
