Summary Still more simplification has been made in the apparatus, previously described, for the series micro determination of carbon and hydrogen, in which use is made of the reduction of nitrogen oxides by copper. A detailed description is given of the conditions necessary to a quantitative oxidation of organic compounds in a current of air. The preparation of an especially active layer of copper is described, adequate for a day's run of fourteen determinations. In addition, interesting details are given of the course of the combustion.

Résumé On a pu simplifier l'appareil antérieurement décrit pour les microdosages en série du carbone et de l'hydrogène dans lequel on fait usage du cuivre pour réduire les oxydes de l'azote. On décrit notamment les conditions permettant l'oxydation quantitative des substances organiques dans un courant d'air ainsi que la préparation d'une couche de cuivre particulièrement active, suffisante pour permettre d'effectuer une série de 14 analyses quotidiennes. D'autres détails intéressants concernant le processus de la combustion sont également communiqués.

Zusammenfassung Die bereits früher beschriebene Apparatur zur serienmäßigen Mikrobestimmung des Kohlenstoffs und Wasserstoffs, bei der Kupfer zur Reduktion der Stickoxyde verwendet wurde, konnte weiter vereinfacht werden. Im einzelnen werden die Bedingungen für eine quantitative Oxydation organischer Substanzen imLuftstrom, sowie die Herstellung einer besonders aktiven Kupferschicht, die für eine Tagesserie von 14 Bestimmungen ausreicht, beschrieben. Ferner werden interessante Einzelheiten über den Verbrennungsvorgang mitgeteilt.
