A chemical synthesis closely following a biochemical pathway discussed by several authors is described.
    Notes: Die beiden Titelverbindungen (5, 6) stellen mögliche Zwischenstufen in der Biosynthesekette mono- und bicyclischer Pyrrolidin- bzw. Piperidinalkaloide dar. Es wird über eine chemische Synthese berichtet, die sich eng an einen von mehreren Autoren diskutierten Biosyntheseweg anschließt.

    Description / Table of Contents: Preparation and Behaviour of 1.5-Didehydrohygrine and N-Methyl-1.6-didehydroisopelletierineA one step synthesis of the title compounds and their cyclisation to tropinone and pseudopelletierine is reported. A second synthesis of 1.5-didehydrohygrine (5) involving 1-Methyl-Δ1-pyrrolinium-5-carboxylic acid (19) is described.
    Notes: Es wird über eine einstufige Synthese der als Alkaloidvorstufen diskutierten Titelverbindungen berichtet und ihre Cyclisierung zu Tropinon und Pseudopelletierin nachgewiesen. Ferner wird eine über die 1-Methyl-Δ1-pyrrolinium-carbonsäure-(5) (19) führende, mehrstufige Synthese von 1.5-Didehydro-hygrin (5) beschrieben.

    Description / Table of Contents: X-Ray Structure Analysis of Tetraformyl HydrazineThe structure of tetraformyl hydrazine was determined by X-ray crystal structure analysis with three-dimensional intensity data. The molecules consist of two planar N(CHO)2-groups which are arranged perpendicular to each other. The bond lengths found are: N—N 1.346. C—N 1.348, and C—O 1.295 Å.
    Notes: Die Struktur des Tetraformylhydrazins wurde durch Röntgenstrukturanalyse mit dreidimensionalen Reflexdaten ermittelt. Die Moleküle bestehen aus zwei in sich planaren N(CHO)2 Gruppen, die senkrecht aufeinander stehen. Die Bindungslängen betragen: N—N 1.346. C—N 1.348 und C—O 1.295 Å.

    Description / Table of Contents: Oxidation of Orcinol with K3[Fe(CN)6] in a Flow-SystemOxidation of orcinol 1 in a flow system with alkaline K3[Fe(CN)6] gives a high yield (35%) of the dimer 2, smaller quantities of diastereomeric trimers 3 (A, B)and tetramers 4 (C-E), and practically no polymeric material. This contrasts to oxidation of 1 under static conditions. Similarly, a mixture of all possible diastereomers of tetramer 4 (C-E) is obtained in 50% yield from 2. These mixtures have been separated by chromatography and constitution and configuration of every component has been established. The exclusive o,o′-coupling found in all oxidation products is related to spin distribution of the unpaired electron in the orcinol radical 1.
    Notes: Im Gegensatz zur Reaktion in stehender Lösung werden bei der Oxidation von Orcin (1) mit K3[Fe(CN)6] in einer Strömungsapparatur das Dimere 2 in relativ hoher Ausbeute von 35%, kleine Mengen der diastreomeren Trimeren 3A, B) und Tetrameren 4 (C-E) sowie praktisch keine Polymeren gebildet. Entsprechend erhält man aus 2 das Gemisch aller diastereomeren Tetrameren 4 (C-E) mit 50%. Diese Gemische werden Chromatographisch getrennt und jede Komponente in der Konstitution und Konfiguration aufgeklärt. Die in allen Oxidations-produkten ausschließlich festgestellte o, o′-Verknüpfung wird an Hand der Spindichteverteilung des ungepaarten Elektrons im Orcinradikal 1· diskutiert.

    Description / Table of Contents: B-Tris(dimethylamino)borazine crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/a with a = 9.841, b = 17.61, c = 8.140 Å, β = 111.9°, and four molecules per unit cell. The molecule shows only small deviations from a planar structure of the symmetry D3h. The endocyclic and exocyclic B—N bonds are equal within the standard deviation (mean value 1.432 Å). The ring angles are different at the B atoms and the N atoms.
    Notes: B-Tris(dimethylamino)borazol kristallisiert in der monoklinen Raumgruppe P21/a mit a = 9,841, b = 17,61 c = 8,140 Å, β = 111,9° und 4 Molekeln in der Elementarzelle. Die Molekel zeigt nur geringe Abweichungen von einer planaren Struktur mit D3h-Symmetrie. Die endocyclischen und die exocyclischen B-N-Bindungen sind innerhalb der Standardabweichung gleich lang (Mittelwert 1,432 Å). Die Ringwinkel sind an den B-Atomen und den N-Atomen deutlich verschieden.

    Description / Table of Contents: Dimethylamino-dimethylaluminum existing only as a dimer was investigated by X-rays. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/a with a = 12.85, b = 8.15, c = 7.65 Å and β = 117.7°. The structure was solved from PATTERSON, FOU-RIER, and difference FOURIER syntheses and refined by least-squares to a R value of 5.8%. The compound has the structure of a plane, nearly quadratic four-membered ring with alternating aluminum and nitrogen atoms, each coordinated by two methyl groups. Averaged bond lengths and angles see „Inhaltsübersicht“.
    Notes: Dimethylamino-dimethylaluminium, das ausschließlich in der dimeren Form existiert, wurde röntgenographisch untersucht. Es kristallisiert in der monoklinen Raumgruppe P21/a mit a = 12,85, b = 8,15, c = 7,65 Å und β = 117,7°. Die Struktur wurde aus PATTERSON-, FOURIER- und Differenz-FOURIER-Synthesen abgeleitet und nach der Methode der kleinsten Quadrate bis zu einem R-Wert von 5,8% verfeinert. Die Verbindung hat die Struktur eines ebenen, annähernd quadratischen Vierrings aus alternierenden Al- und N-Atomen, die von je zwei Methylgruppen koordiniert sind. Folgende mittleren Bindungslängen und -winkel wurden gefunden: Al—N 1,96; Al—C 1,96; N—C 1,49 Å; N—Al—N 88,4; Al—N—Al 91,6; C—Al—C 115,9; C—N—C 108,1°.
