Notizen: Abstract The BPA eight-chain molecular network model is introduced into the finite element formulation of elastic-plastic large deformation. And then, the tensile deformation localization development of the amorphous glassy circular polymeric bars (such as polycarbonates) is numerically simulated. The simulated results are compared with experimental ones, and very good consistence between numerical simulation and experiment is obtained, which shows the efficiency of the finite element analysis. Finally, the influences of the microstructure parameterS ss on tensile neck-propagation and triaxial stress effect are studied.

Notizen: Abstract Objective: The pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of artemether and dihydroartemisinin were investigated in eight Thai males following the administration of single oral and intramuscular doses of artemether (300 mg) in a randomized two-way cross-over study. Results: Both oral and intramuscular artemether were well-tolerated. In most cases, artemether and dihydroartemisinin were detected in plasma after 30 min and declined to levels below the limit of detection within 18–24 h. Compared with intramuscular administration, oral administration of artemether resulted in a relatively rapid but incomplete absorption [Cmax: 474 vs 540 ng · ml−1; t max: 2.0 vs 3.9 h; AUC: 2.17 vs 5.20 μg · h · ml−1]. Geographic means of lag-time and absorption half-life (t 1/2a) of oral vs intramuscular artemether were 0.28 and 1.1 h vs 0.30 and 2 h, respectively. t 1/2z was significantly shortened after the oral dose [2.8 vs 6.9 h]. Mean oral bioavailability relative to intramuscular administration was 43.2%. The ratio of the AUCs of artemether to dihydroartemisinin was significantly lower after the oral than after the intramuscular dose (geometric mean: 0.29 vs 0.60).

    Thema: Biologie
Notizen: Abstract We present a general framework for modelling adaptive trait dynamics in which we integrate various concepts and techniques from modern ESS-theory. The concept of evolutionarily singular strategies is introduced as a generalization of the ESS-concept. We give a full classification of the singular strategies in terms of ESS-stability, convergence stability, the ability of the singular strategy to invade other populations if initially rare itself, and the possibility of protected dimorphisms occurring within the singular strategy's neighbourhood. Of particular interest is a type of singular strategy that is an evolutionary attractor from a great distance, but once in its neighbourhood a population becomes dimorphic and undergoes disruptive selection leading to evolutionary branching. Modelling the adaptive growth and branching of the evolutionary tree can thus be considered as a major application of the framework. A haploid version of Levene's ‘soft selection’ model is developed as a specific example to demonstrate evolutionary dynamics and branching in monomorphic and polymorphic populations.

Notizen: Abstract This work reports the results obtained with the application of High Order Boltzmann Machines without hidden units to construct classifiers for some problems that represent different learning paradigms. The Boltzmann Machine weight updating algorithm remains the same even when some of the units can take values in a discrete set or in a continuous interval. The absence of hidden units and the restriction to classification problems allows for the estimation of the connection statistics, without the computational cost involved in the application of simulated annealing. In this setting, the learning process can be sped up several orders of magnitude with no appreciable loss of quality of the results obtained.

Notizen: A series of 2,3-O-carboxymethylcelluloses (CMC's), which are regioselectively substituted at the C-2 and C-3 position, were prepared and their water solubility was examined. It was found that the lower limit for the degree of substitution (DS) value of water-soluble 2,3-O-CMC is about 0.3. This value was almost the same as that of CMC prepared in a slurry of isopropyl alcohol/water with isopropyl chloroacetate and sodium hydroxide, showing that the uniform alkylation is rather important to convert cellulose into water-soluble derivatives.

Notizen: The crystal structure of poly(aryl ether biphenyl ether ketone ketone) (PEDEKK) was determined to comprise a two-chain orthorhombic unit cell with dimensions a = 0.778 nm, b = 0.606 nm and c = 2.375 nm by using wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD). According to the orthorhombic system, the 12 reflections of this polymer were indexed. The crystallite size increases with increasing the crystallization temperature. The results of the degree of crystallinity (Wc,x) calculated from WAXD were compatible with those from density (Wc,d) and calorimetry (Wc,h) measurements.
