Notes: A new blind loach of Triplophysa Rendahl 1933 was collected from a subterranean pool in a cave at Wulong County, Chongqing City, China, in November 2002. The new species, named Triplophysa rosa sp. nov., can be distinguished from its congeners by the following unique characters: eyes vestigial; 9 branched dorsal-fin rays; 12 branched pectoral-fin rays; 7 branched pelvic-fin rays; 6 branched anal-fin rays; 7 + 7 branched caudal-fin rays; distal margin of dorsal-fin concave; tip of pelvic-fin surpasses vertical level of anus; caudal-fin deeply forked; whole body scaleless and colourless.

Notes: Background:  Excessive production of interleukin (IL)-4, IL-13 and interferon (IFN)-γ is thought to be important in the development of allergic disease and atopy. Several investigators have linked the IL-4 and IL-4R genes to allergic disease and atopy. The aim of this study is to further explore the mechanism of penicillins allergy and evaluate the possible role of the IL-4 C-589T and IL-4RαQ576R polymorphisms in modulating the allergic responses to penicillins. Methods:  Radioallergosorbent test (RAST) was used to detect eight kinds of specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) to penicillins in serum. Serum levels of IL-4, IL-13 and IFN-γ were measured by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The IL-4 C-589T and IL-4RαQ576R polymorphisms were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR–RFLP).Results:  Compared with control subjects, there were significantly higher levels of IL-4, IL-13 and IFN-γ in allergic patients with positive specific IgE (P 〈 0.01), and the lower levels of IL-4 and IFN-γ were observed in allergic patients with negative specific IgE (P 〈 0.05). We found a growing trend of IL-4 and IL-13 levels with the kind increasing of positive specific IgE, and even there were significant correlations between the three kinds of cytokines and many kinds of specific IgE (P 〈 0.05). The IL-4Rα*Q576 allele was significantly increased in patients with penicillins allergy compared with control subjects (P 〈 0.01). Furthermore, the allele was strongly associated with increased serum-specific benzylpenicilloyl (BPO)-, phenoxomethylpenicillanyl (PVA)- or ampicillanyl (APA)-IgE levels in patients with positive specific IgE (P 〈 0.05).Conclusions:  These data suggest that IL-4, IL-13 and IFN-γ play an important roles in penicillins allergy. The IL-4RαQ576R polymorphism may involve in the development of penicillins allergy, and through modulating specific serum IgE levels.

Notes: In today’s highly volatile global market, design activities become more and more importantin the whole lifecycle of product. The process of different developments should adopt appropriatemodeling approaches at each stage. Different modeling technologies exert a great impact on differentdesign stages. Therefore, modeling design is crucial to achieve success in the process of productdevelopment. This paper presents an integrated modeling of design process for product development. Its objective is to realize concurrent design towards ever-growing demands of market that has alreadyintegrated design process and production activities. It can manage to develop product towards earlydesign activities. Different design stage model relations and activities are presented for productdevelopment. At first, the characteristics of different development stages are analyzed. Theperformances and attributes of product are established through considering component, constraintsand environment. Second, the process of product modeling is described in detail for early design, andthe time interval between the two activities is evaluated for concurrent engineering during the designmodeling. Third, a promising framework is given to describe the process of design. Finally, anapplication example and knowledge are presented to illustrate the process of product development

Notes: Chitin/Chitosan membrane has been used as wound dressing materials to facilitate clinical wound healing for many years. However, there are fewer articles studying the cell-biomaterial interaction in vitro or in vivo. In this study, the biological characteristics of human keratinocytes cultured on chitosan membrane that was mixed with gelatin in different ratio were investigated in vitro. Chitosan-gelatin membrane (CGM) in different ratio were prepared with N, N-(3 dimethylaminopropyl)-N'-ethyl carbodiimide (EDC). CGMs were divided into four groups: pure chitosan membrane, 7:3 (chitosan: gelatin), 5:5 and 3:7 groups. Human keratinocytes were isolated from foreskin by Dispase/Trypsin-EDTA digestion. Keratinocytes of passage3 were then seeded on the surface of CGM. Cloning forming efficiency (CFE) and migration distance of culturedkeratinocytes on CGM were measured. The CFE of keratinocytes cultured on the surface of pure chitosan membrane was 9.8±2.08%; cultured on 7:3 CGM was 14.33±1.53%, 5:5 CGM was 19.17±1.26%, 3:7 CGM was 18.33±2.08%. The migration distance of cultured keratinocytes on pure chitosan membrane was 61.47±2.70µm, 7:3 CGM was 66.22±9.39µm, 5:5 CGM was 120.31±15.82µm, 3:7 CGM was 225.38±10.48µm. This sutdy demonstrated that increasing contentsof gelatin in CGM could promote keratinocyte proliferation and migration. The results also suggested the membrane prepared from chitosan and gelatin can be utilized as a good keratinocyte delivery system

Notes: Micro-drills are becoming more and more important in precision and micro fabrications. They have been widely used in applications, e.g., precision and micro drilling. In this paper, a novel method is advanced and used for regrinding of chisel edges of helical micro-drills. In this method, a geometric model is established for the chisel edge regrinding. Based on the kinematic relationship of regrinding, the model simplifies machine movement so as to facilitate an easy operation. Computersimulation is applied to the regrinding process of the micro-drills. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective in regrinding chisel edges, which allows for a more reasonable distribution of the angles along the chisel edge of a drill, and enhances the drilling performance

Notes: Investigations have been made on the optical rotatory dispersion properties of E. coli ribosomes and their constituent RNA and proteins. The results indicate that (1) no conformational changes are involved in the formation of a 70S particle from the 50S and 308 subunits, (2) the E. coli ribosomal proteins are similar to most globular proteins with little α-helix content, and (3) the conformation of RNA and proteins inside the ribosome is very similar to that in the free state.
