Notes: Abstract Visual presentation of an object produces firing patterns in cell assemblies representing the features of the object. Based on theoretical considerations and animal experiments, it has been suggested that the binding of neuronal representations of the various features is achieved through synchronization of the oscillatory firing patterns. The present study demonstrates that stimulus-induced gamma-band responses can be recorded non-invasively from human subjects attending to a single moving bar. This finding indicates the synchronization of oscillatory activity in a large group of cortical neurons. Gamma-band responses were not as apparent in the presence of two independently moving stimuli, suggesting that the neuronal activity patterns of different objects are not synchronized. These results open a new paradigm for investigating the mechanisms of feature binding and association building in relation to subjective perception.

Notes: Abstract It has not been clear whether or not early information processing in the human auditory cortex is altered by voluntary movements. We report a movementrelated, complex event-related potential consisting of relatively long-lasting amplitude and phase perturbations induced in an ongoing auditory steady-state response (SSR) by brief self-paced finger movements. Our results suggest that processing in the auditory cortex during the first 50–100 ms after stimulus delivery is affected before, during, and after voluntary movements, beginning with a 1- to 2-ms delay in the SSR wave form starting 1–2 s before the movement.

Notes: A series of η1-borazine complexes were obtained by the reaction of trichloroborazine with Na[(η5-C5R5)Fe(CO)2]. The compounds [{(C5R5)(CO)2Fe}nCl3-nB3N3H3] (1a, n = 1, R = Me; 1b, n = 2, C5R5 = C5H4Me; 1c, n = 3, R = H) have one to three iron-boron σ bonds and Fe-B π-interactions can be ruled out from the spectroscopic and structural results. All new borazine complexes were isolated as orange crystalline solids and characterized by multinuclear NMR methods and IR spectroscopy. The structure of 1b in the crystalline state was also determined by a single-crystal X-ray study.

Notes: The μ3-boryloxycarbyne complexes [{Fe(CO)3}3{μ3-COBCl{NtBu(SiMe3)}}2] (1) and [{(η5-C5H5)Ni}3{μ3-COBX(NR2)}μ3-CO] (2a: NR2 = NtBu(SiMe3), × = Cl; 2b: NR2 = N(SiMe3)2, × = Cl; 2c: NR2 = NMe2, × = BNMe2Cl) were obtained by reaction of the anionic complexes K2[{Fe(CO)3}3{μ3-CO}2] and K[{(η5-C5H5)Ni(CO)] with the corresponding chloroboranes Cl2BNR2 {NR2 = NtBu(SiMe3), N(SiMe3)2}, or 1,2-dichlorodiboranes(4) B2(NMe2)2Cl2, respectively. The products are formed by a nucleophilic attack of the CO oxygen atom at the boron centres with subsequent salt elimination. All compounds were characterized by IR and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, and the structures of 1 and 2c in the solid state were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.

Notes: The reaction of the air- and water-stable borylene complex [μ-BNMe2{.5-C5H4Me)Mn(CO)2}2] (1a) with a solution of Hcl in Et2O affords the correspondin chloroborylene complex [μ-Chloroborylenebis{dicarbonyl(.5-methylcyclopentadienyl)manganese}(Mn-Mn)] (2). This compound easily undergoes further substitution reactions with protic reagents such as primary amines, alcohols and water at the metal coordinated borylene moiety with elimination of HCl, giving new products of the type [μ-BX{.4-C5H4ME)Mn(CO)2}2] (3a, ab: X=NHtBu, NHPh; 4a, b: × = OMe, OEt; 5: X= Oh}. All borylene complexes were isolated as crystalline solids in good yield and characterized by multinuclear NMR methods and IR spectroscopy in solution. In addition, the structure of 4b in the crystalline state was determined by a single-crystal X-ray study.
