Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary The influence of Oxyfedrin on the arterial levels and the myocardial extraction of glucose, lactate, pyruvate, free fatty acids, acetoacetate, 3-hydroxybutyrate, esterified fatty acids and glycerol has been studied by coronary sinus catheterization on dogs. The arterial levels and myocardial extraction of free fatty acids and ketone-bodies were markedly increased, the arterial concentration and myocardial uptake of pyruvate and lactate were found to be decreased. The different effect of Oxyfedrin and catecholamines on myocardial metabolism has been discussed.
