Notes: [Auszug] Male Sprague-Dawley rats, 4?6 months old and weighing 260?360 g, were kept under a light-dark cycle of 12 : 12 h. At eight different times of day, three to five rats were killed and the livers were excised and homogenized in a cold solution of 0.14 M KC1 containing 0.0025 N NaOH. The homogenates ...

Notes: Summary After describing a method to prepare the bovine cornea endothelium close to the in vivo state we demonstrate the levels of the adenosine phosphate compounds and of some glycolytic intermediates. When the isolated eye balls were stored, after initial changes, the metabolite levels in the cornea endothelium showed a constant pattern for many hours. It was concluded that controled reactions of the metabolism were maintained about 30 hours following the enucleation. The ATP/ADP ratios and the lactate/pyruvate ratios may give some evidence that in the cornea endothelium reactions of the oxidative metabolism can take place during a certain time of storage even if oxygen is absent in the aqueous humour. The differences between the endothelium and the aqueous humour in lactate and pyruvate levels suggest that a membrane function of the endothelium is maintained for some time after the enucleation of the eye.

Notes: Abstract The (n, γ)-spectrum of Er 167 was investigated by means of the Risø bent crystal spectrometer. The energies and intensities of 47 transitions were measured. 22 of them were fitted into a level scheme. The rotational bands of theK=7/2+[633],K=1/2−[521], andK=5/2−[512] states were found up to the spin valuesI=11/2+, 9/2−, and 7/2−. Gammavibrational states of these Nilsson orbitals were determined or proposed. The energy of theK=5/2−[523] state was suggested. Branching ratios of gamma transitions were compared with theoretical predictions.

Notes: Abstract Using the bent crystal gamma-spectrometer in Risø 211 gamma-transitions in Er 168 were measured. The low-energetic level scheme of this strongly deformed nucleus could be extended considerably. The rotational bands of the ground state and the gamma-vibrational level were found up toI=8. The negativ parity level at 1094 keV must be assigned byI=K=4 and is expected to be mostly the [521↓, +633↑] two quasineutron state. The corresponding rotational band was built up including theI=8 level. TheI=K=3 negativ parity level at 1541 keV represents very probably the [521↓−633↑] two quasineutron state. Its rotational band was found up to theI=7 level. The calculation of mixing ratios of intraband transitions yields ¦G 44¦〈0.2 andG 33=−1.85 nuclear magnetons for the parameters of theM1-transition probability within theK=4 and theK=3 band. Theγ-transitions between these bands are well explained assuming Coriolis coupling. The band mixing is calculated from intensity ratios.

Notes: Abstract A time-of-flight technique is used for the measurement of positive ion mobilities in argon in the 1–100 atm pressure range at 300 °K. The ions are produced by photoionization of gas atoms in the drift region with ultraviolet light from a spark discharge. A mobility is found which varies continuously with the reduced electric fieldE/p 0 and which exhibits two saturation values at 1.55±0.01 cm2/volt sec (forE/p 0≳ 2 volt/cm torr) and at 0.818±0.003 (forE/p 0≲ 0.17). The former value is in excellent agreement with the zero-field mobility obtained by Beaty for Ar+. The last value is interpreted in terms of the Langevin theory and connected with the formation of the Ar 33 + labile cluster. This has the Ar+ ion as nucleus and is surrounded by two complete shells of 12 and 20 argon atoms respectively. A mean value of the cluster radius is estimated as 6.24 Å.
