HP4º as a Complex Ligand: Formation and Properties of [(η5-C5H5)2ZrCl(P4H)], [(η5-C5Me5)2ZrCl(P4H)], and [(η5-C5H5)3Zr(P4H)]The novel complexes [(η5-C5H5)2ZrCl(P4H)] (1), [(η5-C5Me5)2ZrCl(P4H)] (2), and [(η5-C5H5)3Zr(P4H)] (3) have been obtained by reaction of a solution of (Na/K)HP4 with the zirconocen derivatives [(η5-C5H5)2ZrCl2], [(η5-C5Me5)2ZrCl2], and [(η5-C5H5)3(η1-C5 H5)Zr] under suitable conditions. The structure of the compounds 1-3, which are only stable in solution, has been elucidated by means of 31P-NMR spectroscopy. It is highly probable that the exo,endo isomer exists in each case. In addition, further isomers of lower relative abundancies have been observed, in which the ligands presumably exhibit a different spatial orientation relatively to each other.
    Notes: Die Reaktion von (Na/K)HP4-Lösung mit den Zirconocenderivaten [(η5-C5H5)2ZrCl2], [(η5-C5Me5)2ZrCl2] und [(η5-C5H5)3(η1-C5 H5)Zr] führt unter geeigneten Bedingungen zu den neuen Komplexen [(η5-C5H5)2ZrCl(P4H)] (1), [(η5-C5Me5)2ZrCl(P4H)] (2) und [(η5-C5H5)3Zr(P4H)] (3). Die Struktur der Verbindungen 1-3, die nur in Lösung beständig sind, wurde 31P-NMR-spektroskopisch bestimmt. Sehr wahrscheinlich liegt in allen Fällen das exo,endo-Isomer vor. Daneben existieren weitere Isomere geringerer relativer Häufigkeit, in denen die Liganden vermutlich eine andere räumliche Orientierung zueinander aufweisen.

Tetraisopropyloctadecaphosphane(4), P18i-Pr4  -  Preparation and Structure Determination by Nuclear Magnetic ResonanceTetraisopropyloctadecaphosphane(4) (1) has been obtained by reaction of i-PrPCl2 with P4 and magnesium and subsequent thermolysis of the crude reaction product, and has been isolated in 95% purity. According to NMR-spectroscopic investigations, 1 contains a conjuncto-phosphane skeleton consisting of a P11(5)- and a P9(3)-structural element analogous to that of deltacyclane, joined through a common P2-bridge. Thus, 1 is 8,14,16, 18-tetraisopropyloctacyclo[13.2.1.02,13.03,11.04,9.05,7.06,10.012,17]octadecaphosphane. Compound 1 is formed as a mixture of two configurational isomers 1 a and 1 b, which differ from each other in their spatial arrangements of the isopropyl group at P8.
    Notes: Tetraisopropyl-octadecaphosphan(4) (1) wurde durch Reaktion von i-PrPCl2, P4 und Magnesium und anschließende Thermolyse des Rohproduktes gewonnen und in 95proz. Reinheit isoliert. Nach kernresonanzspektroskopischen Untersuchungen enthält 1 ein Konjunkto-Phosphangerüst aus einem P11(5)-und einem Deltacyclan-analogen P9(3)-Strukturelement, die eine P2-Brücke gemeinsam haben. Demnach handelt es sich bei 1 um 8,14,16,18-Tetraisopropyl-octacyclo[13.2.1.02,13.03,11.04,9.05,7.0 6,10.012,17]octadecaphosphan. Verbindung 1 entsteht als Gemisch von zwei Konfigurationsisomeren 1a und 1b, die sich in der räumlichen Anordnung der Isopropyl-Gruppe an P8 unterscheiden.

Penta-tert-butylundecaphosphane(5), P11(t-Bu)5 - Preparation and Structure Determination by Nuclear Magnetic ResonancePenta-tert-butylundecaphosphane(5) (1) has been obtained by reacting t-BuPCl2, PCl3, and magnesium and subsequently thermolysing the crude reaction product, and has been isolated in 85% purity. According to NMR spectroscopic investigations, the structure of 1 differs from that of the undecaphosphanes P11R5 with smaller alkyl groups reported previously [2, 3]. The P11(5) skeleton of 1 is derived from the P9(5) skeleton, which is analogous to brexane [2, 17], by condensation of a -P(t-Bu)-P(t-Bu)- bridge. Thus 1 is 3,5,6,10,11-penta-tert-butyltetracyclo[5.4.0.02,9.04,8]undecaphosphane. Compound 1 is formed as a mixture of two configurational isomers 1a and 1b, which differ from each other in their spatial arrangements of the tert-butyl groups on P10 and P11.

Nach kernresonanzspektroskopischen Untersuchungen hat 1 eine andere Struktur als die bereits bekannten Undecaphosphane P11R5 mit kleineren Alkylgruppen [2, 3]. Das P11(5)-Gerüst in 1 leitet sich von dem P9(5)-Gerüst mit Brexan-Struktur [2, 17] durch Anfügen einer -P(t-Bu)-P(t-Bu)-Brücke ab. Demnach handelt es sich bei 1 um 3,5,6,10,11-Penta-tert-butyl-tetracyclo[5.4.0.02,9.04,8]undecaphosphan. Verbindung 1 entsteht als Gemisch von zwei Konfigurationsisomeren 1a und 1b, die sich in der räumlichen Anordnung der tert-Butylgruppen an P10 und P11 unterscheiden.

    Description / Table of Contents: Contributions to the Chemistry of Phosphorus. 226. 2,3,4,6-Tetra-tert-butyl-2,4-dioxobicyclo[3.1.0]hexaphosphane, P6Bu4tO2Under suitable conditions, the reaction of tetra-tert-butylhexaphosphane, P6Bu4t (1), with cumene hydroperoxide gives rise to the corresponding dioxide P6Bu4tO2 (3) which could be isolated as the adduct P6Bu4tO2 · 0.7 C9H12O2. According to a complete analysis of the 31P{1H}-NMR spectrum compound 3 is 2,3,4,6-tetra-tert-butyl-2,4-dioxobicyclo[3.1.0]hexaphosphane, in which the oxygen atoms are bonded exocyclically to the five-membered phosphorus ring of 1. When the oxidation reaction proceeds a fission of the bicyclic P6 skeleton takes place.
    Notes: Die Reaktion von Tetra-tert-butylhexaphosphan, P6Bu4t (1), mit Cumolhydroperoxid führt unter geeigneten Bedingungen zu dem entsprechenden Dioxid P6Bu4tO2 (3), das als Addukt P6Bu4tO2 · 0,7 C9H12O2 isoliert werden konnte. Nach einer vollständigen Analyse des 31P{1H}-NMR-Spektrums handelt es sich bei 3 um 2,3,4,6-Tetra-tert-butyl-2,4-dioxobicyclo[3.1.0]hexaphosphan, in dem die Sauerstoffatome exocyclisch an den Phosphor-Fünfring von 1 gebunden sind. Bei fortschreitender Oxydation findet eine Spaltung des bicyclischen P6-Gerüstes statt.

Hexaisopropyltetradecaphosphane(6), P14i-Pr6, and Hexaisopropylhexadecaphosphane(6), P16i-Pr6  -  Formation and Structural Determination by 31P-NMR SpectroscopyHexaisopropyltetradecaphosphane(6) (1) and hexaiso-propylhexadecaphosphane(6) (2) are formed together with other isopropylpolycyclophosphanes by the reaction of i-PrPCl2 with P4 and magnesium and have been enriched to 30 mol% and 10 mol%, respectively. According to 31P-NMR spectroscopic investigations, the novel conjuncto-phosphane skeletons of 1 and 2 are the annelation products of a P5 ring with a P11(5) or a P13(5) partial skeleton, respectively, joined by a common P2 bridge. Thus, 1 is 4,5,6,10,12,14-hexaisopropylpentacyclo-[9.2.1.02,9 .03,7 .08,13]tetradecaphosphane and 2 is 5,6,7,11,14,15-hexaisopropylhexacyclo[7.7.0.02,13 .03,10 .04,8 .012,16]hexadecaphosphane. The phosphorus hydrides P14H16 and P16H6 have the same skeletal structures which are also intermediate stages in the formation of Hittorf's phosphorus.
    Notes: Hexaisopropyl-tetradecaphosphan(6) (1) und Hexaisopropyl-hexadecaphosphan(6) (2) werden zusammen mit anderen Isopropylpolycyclophosphanen bei der Reaktion von i-PrPCl2, P4 und Magnesium gebildet und konnten auf 30 Mol-% bzw. 10 Mol-% angereichert werden. Nach 31P-NMR-spektroskopischen Untersuchungen ist in den neuen Konjunkto-Phosphangerüsten von 1 und 2 jeweils ein P5-Ring mit einem P11(5)- bzw. P13(5)-Teilgerüst über eine gemeinsame P2-Brücke annelliert. Demnach handelt es sich bei 1 um 4,5,6,10,12,14-Hexaisopropyl-pentacyclo[9.2.1.02,9 .03,7 .08,13]-tetradecaphosphan, bei 2 um 5,6,7,11,14,15-Hexaisopropyl-hexacyclo[7.7.0.02,13 .03,10 .04,8 .012,16]hexadecaphosphan. Die Phosphorwasserstoff-Verbindungen P14H6 und P16H6 weisen die gleichen Gerüststrukturen auf, die auch Zwischenstufen beim Aufbau des Hittorfschen Phosphors sind.
