Description / Table of Contents:
Summary Of 57 patients with Hodgkin's disease who underwent prognostic liver punctures, all of them had unspecific mesenchymo reactions. These were sometimes combined with damage to the liver parenchyma, fatty degeneration of the liver, appearances of glycogen centers and mild cholostasis. In 8 cases definite Hodgkin infiltration was proved. Correlations with the clinic showed that the liver mesenchymo reactions were, to a certain extent, connected with the raised body temperature and blood eosinophilia. On the other hand they showed no connection with the stage, type (A and B) or length of illness, the age and sex of the patient, his complaints, laboratory results (serum transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, blood protein content), and life expectancy. Reports on the liver in Hodgkin's disease appear to present a picture of unspecific reaction, and it is not yet possible to make a statement about the mechanism which releases this.
Notes:
In 8 Fällen waren spezifische Hodgkininfiltrate nachweisbar.
