    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung 18 Argyrophilzellencarcinome aus insgesamt 101 Frühcarcinomen des Magens wurden lichtmikroskopisch, elektronenmikroskopisch sowie immunhistochemisch mit Antiseren gegen Polypeptide, CEA, Lysozyme und hCG untersucht. 7 dieser Tumoren enthielten Gastrin und 2 unter ihnen außerdem Somatostatin. In allen 18 Tumoren wurde CEA nachgewiesen, 7 von diesen 18 Tumoren zeigten Lysozyme, darunter 5 auch noch Gastrin. In 4 Tumoren wurde hCG beobachtet, und in 2 aus dieser Reihe von 4 fand sich gleichzeitig Gastrin, CEA, Mucin sowie Lysozyme. Argentaffine Zellen wurden in 7 von 18 Tumoren beobachtet. Drei von 7 Gastrin enthaltende Tumoren hatten mehr oder weniger argentaffine Zellen. Elektronmikroskopisch wurden unterschiedliche Sekretgranula beobachtet und 9 von 18 Tumoren waren D1 oder P Zellen ähnlich. Makroskopisch entsprach die Mehrzahl der Tumoren dem IIc oder IIc+III Typ. Histologisch waren von diesen 18 Tumoren 6 gut differenzierte und 12 wenig differenzierte Adenocarcinome, einschließlich Siegelring-zellencarcinomen. Sie waren öfters im Fundusbereich jüngerer Frauen lokalisiert. Unter Heranziehung unserer schon publizierten Untersuchungsbefunde wird vermutet, daß IIc-Typ Argyrophilzellencarcinome mit dem histologischen Bild des wenig differenzierten Adenocarcinoms dem scirrhösen Carcinom zugeordnet werden kann.
    Notes: Summary Eighteen argyrophil cell carcinomas in 101 early gastric carcinomas were examined histologically, ultrastructurally, and immunohistochemically for polypeptides, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), lysozyme, and human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG). Seven of these 18 tumors had gastrin, and two of seven tumors also contained somatostatin. In all of these 18 tumors CEA were demonstrated. Seven had lysozyme and five of seven tumors also contained gastrin; hCG were present in four of 18 tumors and two of four tumors had gastrin, CEA, mucin, and lysozyme simultaneously. Argentaffin cells were found in seven of 18 tumors. Of the above seven tumors containing gastrin, three had argentaffin cells. Ultrastructurally, several types of secretory granules were noted and tumor cells resembling D1-or P cells were present in nine of the 18 tumors. Macroscopically, many of the tumors showed IIc or IIc+III type. Histologically, the 18 tumors consisted of six well differentiated adenocarcinomas and 12 poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas including signet-ring cell carcinoma. These 12 tumors frequently developed in the stomach of young females. In view of our previous investigations, it was suggested that the IIc-type argyrophil cell carcinoma histologically showing poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma may be related to scirrhous carcinoma of the stomach.

The procedure is a natural extension of the equivalent linearization for stochastic ordinary differential equations. The linearized solution is optimal in the sense that the distance between true and approximate solutions is minimal when it is measured by the Kullback-Leibler entropy. The procedure is applied to the scalar-valued Ginzburg-Landau model in R1 withb 1(z) =μz - vz 3. Stationary values of mean, variance, and correlation length are calculated. They almost agree with exact ones ifμ ≲ 1.24 (ν 2θ 1 4 /D 1 1/3:=μ c . Whenμ⩾μ c , there appear quasistationary states fluctuating around one of the bottoms of the potentialU(z) = ∫b 1(z)dz. The second moment at the quasistationary states almost agrees with the exact one. Transient phenomena are also discussed. Half-width at half-maximum of a structure function decays liket −1/2 for small t. The diffusion term∂ x 2 X accelerates the relaxation from the neighborhood of an unstable initial stateX(0,x) ∼ 0.

    Notes: Abstract A high-power CW 27.972 μm water-vapor laser has been developed for interferometric and polarimetric measurements of plasmas. The maximum output power and the power density in the cavity of the laser with 2.0 cm bore and 220 cm length reach 85 mW and 109 μW/cm3, respectively. An interferometer using this laser is constructed and its performance is examined as a study on polarimetric method of magnetic field measurement. Preliminary interferometric experiments are also carried out on a compact toroidal plasma with field-reversal configuration.

    Notes: Abstract A high-power CW 27.972 μm water vapor laser has been constructed in order to use as a light source of an interferometer for plasma diagnostics. The laser consists of 220 cm length and 2.0 cm small bore Pyrex glass discharge tube, semi-confocal resonator and Michelson coupler. From the measurement of cavity detuning curves, it is found that two waveguide modes, EH11 and EH21 oscillate. The increase of the output power is found to become more than seven times larger by adding He(50%)−H2(50%) mixed gas. Under the optimum condition, the maximum output power of 65 mW or the output power per unit cavity volume of 83 μW/cm3 is obtained.

    Notes: Abstract A fast response frequency-modulated interferometric polarimeter was designed and constructed with a single 28 μm H2O laser for high density plasma diagnostics. This newly developed modulation system employs an electro-magnetically driven movable mirror to achieve the modulation frequency beyound 1 MHz for about 100 μs duration. The movable mirror performance is studied experimentally in detail. The determination of the Faraday rotation angle is based on the zero-crossing method for the observed beat signals produced by two kinds of rotating plane-polarized waves. The feasibility of the polarimeter constructed was verified in experiments of a field-reversed thetapinch plasma.

    Notes: Abstract Arterial elasticity expressed by such indices as volume elastic modulus Ev and compliance Ca were noninvasively measured in various human limb segments; the upper arms, forearms, fingers, thighs, calves and toes. These indices are defined, respectively, as $$E_v = \Delta P/(\Delta V/\bar V_a )$$ and Ca=ΔV/ΔP, where ΔP is pulse pressure, $$\bar V_a $$ mean arterial volume and ΔV its pulsatile variation. ΔP was calculated from systolic Pas and mean Pam arterial pressures determined by volume oscillometric sphygmomanometry using the following equation: $$\Delta P = 3(P_{as} - P_{am} )/2\bar V_a $$ and the ΔV were detected by electrical admittance plethysmography at various transmural pressure Pt levels controlled by a compression cuff. The values obtained in these limb segments were compared with each other at Pt levels 0,30 and 60 mm Hg and the differences between them were discussed.

    Notes: Abstract Diastolic pressure Pd was indirectly measured by vibrating a finger artery with a 10 Hz sinusoidal pressure variation during a gradual increase (or decrease) in occlusive cuff pressure Pc. Pulsatile arterial volume changes on which sinusoidal variations are superimposed were detected by a transmitted infra-red photoelectric plethysmograph (TIPP). It is known that volume change in an artery shows a maximum amplitude at the transmural pressure Pt level equal to 0 mm Hg due to the nonlinear viscoelastic properties of the arterial wall. For the same reason, the amplitude of the sinusoidal volume variation reached its maximum at the end-diastolic phase, when Pc was controlled to be exactly equal to Pd. The indirect Pd values determined from Pc were compared with those simultaneously measured by a direct method in rabbit forelegs and by the volume-compensation method in human fingers. Using the principle of the volume oscillometric method systolic and mean pressures were also determined by this system.

    Notes: Abstract A noninvasive method for estimating the mean capillary pressure Pcap and the pre-and postcapillary resistance ratio Rv/Ra in human fingers is described. Volume change in a finger segment was detected with a transmittance-type infra-red photoelectric plethysmograph during a gradual and linear increase in occluding cuff pressure. There was an inflection point in the volume curve which would be produced by the difference in the compliance between the arterial and venous vascular bed in the segment. This transitional point was assumed to represent the complete compression of the venous vascular bed at the cuff pressure level. Thus Pcap was defined as the cuff pressure corresponding to the inflection point. Rv/Ra was calculated from the Pcap, the venous pressure Pv and the mean arterial pressure Pam. The latter two pressures, Pv and Pam, were also indirectly and simultaneously measured by the compression pressure of another cuff and by our new type of volume oscillation method, respectively. The values of Pcap and Rv/Ra were in good agreement with those reported by other investigators.

    Notes: Abstract Static and dynamic (beat-to-beat) arterial viscoelastic properties were measured noninvasively in human fingers and forearms. The volume change and pressure change were detected simultaneously by admittance plethysmography and by sphygmomanometry using the vascular unloading technique in the index and middle finger, or vice versa. These simultaneous measurements were also made on the forearms of one side and the fingers of the other side. The arterial viscoelastic properties in these segments could be successfully determined at different transmural pressure levels from 0 mm Hg to around the mean arterial pressure.
