Notes: Summary Patients undergoing maintenance haemodialysis exhibited at a regular level of ascorbic acid in plasma a decreased concentration of ascorbic acid in leukocytes. Therefore, the ascorbic acid should be administered in a high dosage to patients undergoing chronic haemodialysis, in order to prevent a vitamin-C deficiency in leukocytes.
