Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary The 312 thoracic injuries treated in the surgical clinic of the University of Kiel included 15 cases (15%) with posttraumatic Intrabronchial bleeding. One third of the vases received surgical and two thirds conservative treatment. Four Patients died as a result of respiratory insufficiency. Regular X-ray and endoscopic monitoring makes a conservative approach justifiable. Surgical intervention is indicated when bleeding continues for 3-4 h, especially during artificial ventilation.
