Notizen: Abstract In an investigation ofT=7/2 analogue states in51V the50Ti(p, γ) excitation curve has been measured for proton bombarding energies 1280–1480 keV and 2340–2660 keV. From the (p, γ) resonances 29 new virtual levels in the region of 9316–9510 keV excitation energy in51V were determined. The strong resonance atE p=1 371 keV has been identified as the isobaric analogue state of the51Ti ground state by determining spin and parity of this resonance to be 3/2−. There is no evidence for a strong analogue resonance in51V corresponding to the 1.16 MeV p 1/2 state in51Ti. The γ-decay of the p 3/2 analogue state has been studied by measuring branching ratios and angular distributions of primary γ-transitions with a Ge(Li) detector.M1E2 mixing ratios have been determined for these transitions. The total width of the resonance for γ-decay is found to be Γγ=1.6±0.4 eV. New bound levels in51V have been introduced at 3576, 4651 and 4661 keV excitation energy. TheJ π values of the 3085, 4770, and 4863 keV states are determined to be 5/2−, 5/2−, 3/2−, respectively. The analogue-antianalogueM1 transition strength is found to be considerably reduced compared to the situation ins-d shell nuclei.

Notizen: Summary Investigations on the microbial modification of sucrose to the corresponding 3-keto-derivative were carried out with resting cells of Agrobacterium tumefaciens NCPPB 396. This highly specific oxidation to yield the 3-keto-derivative has been analysed kinetically with varying substrate and cell mass concentrations. The formation of the corresponding 3-keto-derivative depended strongly on the reaction time and the aeration rate, and was maximal at aeration rates up to 11.5 volume air/cultivation volume per minute with resting cells. The product formation increased with increasing substrate concentrations. However, the product yield was maximal at substrate concentrations below 20 g/l. Data pertaining to the production of active cell mass as well as for maximal 3-keto-derivative formation are presented in this paper. Also included are some applications for these derivatives.

Notizen: Abstract The further optimization of 3-ketodisaccharide formation with sucrose, leucrose and iso maltutose was studied with special regard to pH and oxygen concentration in the reaction mixture with resting cells of Agrobacterium tumefaciens. It was found that the optimal pH values for the highest reaction rate and highest yield were different as the pH affected the stability of the 3-keto derivatives formed. A pH shift to 5.0 clearly reduced the enzymatic degradation of the 3-keto derivatives thus stabilizing them. The influence of constant oxygen concentrations on 3-ketosucrose formation was tested showing results not explicable with normal Michaelis-Menten kinetics. For each substrate a maximum of reaction rate and yield were obtained at very low oxygen concentrations.

Notizen: Summary The kinetics and equilibria of cephalosporin C adsorption on different commercial adsorbents were investigated. Adsorption isotherms could be analysed according to the Brunauer, Emmett and Teller theory. For the interpretation of adsorption kinetics it was necessary to develop a more complex model comprising both a rapid and a slower step. An integrated approach combining kinetics and equilibria allowed for simulation of the experimental data and can be used as a basis for predicting technical approaches such as fluidized-bed technology.

Notizen: Summary A new sesquiterpene alcohol, 12-hydroxy-E-γ-bisabolene, is reported from an undescribed Caribbean sea whip of the genusPseudopterogorgia. The structure of this new alcohol was established based upon spectral analyses and through chemical interconversions.

Notizen: Summary  In this study the morphological effects of local heat application by controlled thermocoagulation to the sciatic nerve of rabbits are investigated. It concentrates on the question of a possible selective elimination of nerve fibres depending on their calibers.  Temperatures of 50°C, 55°C, 60°C, 70°C and 90°C were applied for 45 seconds. The nerves were examined histolgically after 2–3 minutes, 7 and 12 days and 5 weeks.  The light and electronmicrographs show no differential vulnerability of small myelinated or unmyelinated fibres as proposed by Sweet and Wepsic [20]. At a temperature of 50°C no fibre is damaged whereas at 60°C the fibre damage extends over nearly the total cut surface of the nerve. Even at the critical temperature of 55°C affecting only part of the cross-section no predilection of any fibre caliber was observed.  In summary thermocoagulation seems not to be able to cause selective fibre damage.
