The influence of the solution viscosity of monomer thickened with polymer on the bead size in the suspension polymerisation of methyl methacrylate with partially acetylated polyvinyl alcohol (Mowiol N 70/88) as a protecting agent was investigated. In accordance with former measurements the size of the beads was found to be proportional to the 0,1th power of the monomer phase viscosity. This law proved to be valid for viscosity ratios from 0,07 to 18 and for Mowiol concentrations from 0,5 to 40 g./l. The exponent of the agitation velocity is independent of the viscosity ratio.

Der Einfluß der Viskosität des Monomeren mit verschiedenem Anteil Polymer auf die Partikelgröße wurde bei der Perlpolymerisation von Methacrylsäuremethylester mit teilweise acetyliertem Polyvinylalkohol (Mowiol N 70/88) als Schutzkolloid untersucht. Im Einklang mit früheren Messungen wurde gefunden, daß die Perlgröße proportional der 0,1 ten Potenz der Viskosität der Monomerphase ist. Die Gültigkeit dieser Gesetzmäßigkeit wurde für Viskositätsverhältnisse von 0,07 bis 18 und für Mowiolkonzentrationen von 0,5 bis 40 g/l überprüft. Der Rührgeschwindigkeitsexponent ist vom Viskositätsverhältnis unabhängig.
