    Notes: Crystal data for Mg3V10O28.28H2O were determined from oscillation, Weissenberg and precession photographs using Cu Kα radiation (λ = 1.54178 Å). The substance is triclinic, space group P{\bar 1}, Z = 2, and lattice constants a = 10.53 (5), b = 10.73 (6), c = 21.28 (9) Å, α = 90.2(1), β = 97.5(2) and γ = 104.1(3)°, V = 2310 (25) Å3 and the measured and calculated densities are 2.17(10) and 2.20 Mg m−3, respectively. The crystals were also characterized by TG/DTA measurements and vibrational spectroscopy.

    Notes: Abstract The structure of yttrium-decavanadate-24-hydrate, [Y2V10O28·24H2O], was determined by neutron diffraction at temperatures of 297 and 60 K. Space group P-1, triclinic, Z = 2; at 297 K : a = 9.36(1), b = 9.86(1), c = 23.53(3) Å, α = 98.79(2), β = 98.15(2), γ = 89.30(2), V = 2123(5); at 60 K : a = 9.19(3), b = 9.85(3), c = 23.31(12) Å, α = 99.03(3), β = 98.99(6), γ = 89.39(6)°, V = 2058(13). Final R factors of 10 and 9.4% were obtained using 1955 and 1100 observed structure factors at both temperatures, respectively. The position of the 24 water molecules was determined and the characteristics of the hydrogen bonds were analyzed at both temperatures.

    Notes: Summary The synthesis of a new vanadyl(IV)/saccharin complex is reported. Its bonding characteristics differ considerably from all known divalent metal-saccharinates. In this complex a VO(OH)+ moiety is coordinated to a saccharin molecule through its carbonyl oxygen and to a saccharinate ion through its deprotonated nitrogen. Two water molecules complete the coordination sphere. X-ray powder diagrams, infrared- and electronic absorption-spectra were recorded and analyzed for the characterization of the compound and its coordination properties. Besides, the magnetic susceptibility and the thermal behaviour were also investigated.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Methods for preparation of the anhydrous compound formulated as Sr2(MnO4)OH and of its dihydrate are described. Unit cell parameters, which are the same for both substances, have been calculated from X-ray powder diagramms. Infrared absorption and visible reflectance spectra as well as the magnetic and thermal properties are also reported and briefly discussed.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Es wird die Herstellung der Verbindungen Sr2(MnO4)OH und Sr2(MnO4)OH·2H2O beschrieben. Die Gitterkonstanten wurden aus den entsprechenden Pulverdiagrammen berechnet. Die Infrarotabsorptions-und die Reflexionsspektren im Sichtbaren sowie das magnetische und thermische Verhalten wurden untersucht und kurz besprochen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung An Hand der Pulverdiagramme wurden die Gitterkonstanten von Ca5(VO4)3Br, Sr5(VO4)3Br und Ba5(VO4)3Br ermittelt. Alle drei Verbindungen kristallisieren hexagonal und besitzen die Apatitstruktur. Mit den erhaltenen Daten werden einige kristallchemische Betrachtungen sowie Vergleiche mit anderen verwandten Verbindungen gemacht.
    Notes: Abstract The unit cell parameters of Ca5(VO4)3Br, Sr5(VO4)3Br and Ba5(VO4)3Br, calculated by means of powder diagramms, are given. The compounds belong to the hexagonal system and crystallize with the apatite structure. With the obtained data, some comparisons are made and some aspects of the crystal chemistry of these and related compounds are discussed.
