    Notes: Summary The synthesis of a new vanadyl(IV)/saccharin complex is reported. Its bonding characteristics differ considerably from all known divalent metal-saccharinates. In this complex a VO(OH)+ moiety is coordinated to a saccharin molecule through its carbonyl oxygen and to a saccharinate ion through its deprotonated nitrogen. Two water molecules complete the coordination sphere. X-ray powder diagrams, infrared- and electronic absorption-spectra were recorded and analyzed for the characterization of the compound and its coordination properties. Besides, the magnetic susceptibility and the thermal behaviour were also investigated.

    Notes: Abstract The thermal decompositions of a series of simple lithium compounds (carbonate, sulfate, acetate, citrates, aspartates and glutamates) currently used in the treatment of manic-depressive psychosis and related disorders were investigated by means of TG and DTA measurements in oxygen atmosphere. Pyrolysis residues were characterized by infrared spectroscopy. The stabilities of the hydrates and intermediate phases generated during the degradation processes are discussed.

    Description / Table of Contents: Hydrolytic and Thermal Behaviour of Sn3PO4F3The behaviour of Sn3PO4F3 in aqueous solutions, has been investigated under different experimental conditions. It is shown that the compound possesses a high hydrolytic stability. The thermal behaviour has been analyzed by means of TG/DTA measurements and the decomposition products have been characterized by X-ray diffraction and 119Sn-Mössbauer spectroscopy. A detailed study of the SnF2/H3PO4 system, allows the formulation of new preparative procedures for Sn3PO4F3 and monoclinic Sn3(PO4)2.
    Notes: Es wurde das Verhalten von Sn3PO4F3 in wäßrigen Lösungen unter verschiedenen experimentellen Bedingungen untersucht. Dabei wurde festgestellt, daß diese Phase eine sehr hohe hydrolytische Stabilität besitzt. Das thermische Verhalten wurde mittels TG/DTA-Messungen untersucht und die Zersetzungsprodukte röntgenographisch und durch 119Sn-Mößbauer-Spektroskopie charakterisiert. Eine eingehende Untersuchung des SnF2/H3PO4-Systems erlaubte weiterhin, neue Darstellungsmethoden für Sn3PO4F3 und monoklines Sn3(PO4)2 auszuarbeiten.

It is demonstrated that the CuII ions show a similar coordination behaviour in both compounds.
    Notes: Es wurden die IR-, Elektronen(Reflexion)- und ESR-Spektren sowie die magnetischen Suszeptibilitäten der Titelverbindungen gemessen und diskutiert. Es wird gezeigt, daß in beiden Verbindungen die CuII-Ionen ähnliche Koordinationsverhältnisse aufweisen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Preparation and Properties of Vanadyl(IV) Pentacyanonitrosylferrate(II), VO[Fe(CN)5NO] · 2 H2OThe preparation of VO[Fe(CN)5NO] · 2 H2O is described for the first time. Its electronic, infrared, and 57Fe-Mössbauer spectra were recorded and discussed. The thermal degradation was investigated by means of TG and DTA measurements and shows a very complex behaviour. A new preparative method for (VO)2[Fe(CN)6] · 10 H2O is also described and some of its spectroscopic properties were investigated and compared with those of VO[Fe(CN)5NO] · 2 H2O.
    Notes: Die Darstellung von VO[Fe(CN)5NO] · 2 H2O wird erstmalig beschrieben. Das Elektronenabsorptionsspektrum, sowie die IR- und 57Fe-Mößbauer-Spektren werden aufgenommen und besprochen. Der thermische Abbau wurde mittels TG- und DTA-Messungen untersucht und zeigte ein ziemlich kompliziertes Verhalten. Es wurde auch eine neue Darstellungsmethode für (VO)2[Fe(CN)6] · 10 H2O ausgearbeitet und einige spektroskopischen Eigenschaften untersucht und mit denjenigen des VO[Fe(CN)5NO] · 2 H2O verglichen.

    Notes: The Raman spectrum of solid [Fe(Sac)2 (H2O4)] · 2H2O was recorded and assigned. Some comparisons with the spectra of the related copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes were also made. The excitation profiles of the vibrational modes that show pre-resonance on excitation with laser lines within the electronic bands are reported. On this basis, and with the aid of a semi-empirical extended Hückel MO calculation, the assignment of the metal - ligand vibrations and the interpretation of the electronic spectrum could be reinforced.

    Notes: Information on the vibrational and electronic properties of the [VO(biuret)(SO4)] · 3H2O complex was improved in order to gain a deeper insight into the characteristics of the metal-ligand bonds. Normal Raman and pre-resonance Raman studies were performed, which allowed a better characterization of the metal-ligand modes and a thorough analysis of the electronic spectrum. The results were also compared with theoretical semi-empirical molecular orbital calculations.
