Notes: Abstract The polarization method for studying photoactive absorption is used to investigate the photoconversion processes in CdS/InP heterojunctions as a function of the orientation of the indium phosphide substrate. The results of these investigations demonstrate the sensitivity of the photoelectric processes to several factors, including the crystallographic orientation of the p-type InP substrate and the optical quality of the CdS layer. The induced photopleochroism coefficient of these heterojunctions increases proportionally to the square of the angle of incidence (P I ∼Θ2). Such CdS/InP heterojunctions can be employed as polarization-photosensitive devices.

Notes: Summary Ultrahigh molecular weight polyacrylamides (PAAM) were obtained by plasma-induced polymerization in water solutions. The influenceof monomer concentration, sealing pressure, initiation time and post polymerization period on polymer yield and molecular weight were investigated. The viscosity and “screen factor” measurements, as well as the thermally stimulated depolarization currents spectroscopic data of the synthesized polymers, indicate good properties as efficient viscosity modifiers in displacement of fluids for enhance oil recovery (EOR).

Notes: Summary The a.c.conduction mechanism in poly(1-ethynylnaphtalene) with various physical and isomeric (cis-cisoidal and trans-cisoidal) structures was investigated over the frequency and temperature ranges of 10–105Hz and 190–373°K respectively. The conduction mechanism depends on the isomeric structure of the polymer, and for the cis-cisoidal polymer supplementary on temperature and frequency.Over the whole frequency range(at 190°K) and above a critical frequency (at higher temperatures),which is temperature dependent, the quantum hopping mechanism is involved in cis-cisoidal polymer.Outside of this range the conduction process takes place by two parallel mechanisms: band and hopping mechanisms. In trans-cisoidal polymer the quantum hopping mechanism is involved over the whole frequency and temperature range considered.

Notes: Summary The dielectric relaxation processes in polyurethanes based on 4,4′-dibenzyle diisocyanate and saturated polyester in the temperature range of 250–400°K using thermally stimulated depolarization currents method have been investigated. The structure of the relaxation thermograms, location and intensity of the constituent peaks depend both on the precipitation temperature and thermal history of the polymer. The relaxation processes have been associated with the molecular motions within domains with distinct morphological structures. The morphological structure of the samples was evidenced using electron microscopy method.

Notes: Summary The thermally stimulated depolarization currents from poly(2-ethynylnaphtalene) with cis-cisoidal and transcisoidal structures were studied over the temperature range 200–380 K. The single peak ρ of the cis-cisoidal isomer was assigned to the Maxwell-Wagner polarization. The β1 and β2 peaks of the trans-cisoidal isomer arise from a single dipolar relaxation process and respectively from a dipolar relaxation distributed in natural frequency. Certains assignements are based on comparative work on polyphenylacetylene.

Notes: Summary The thermally stimulated depolarization currents(TSDC) from polyurethanes based on 4,4′-dibenzyle diisocyanate(DBDI) and both saturated and unsaturated polyesters were studied over the temperature range 240–410 °K. Pour relaxation peaks were observed. The structure of the TSDC thermograms, location and intensity of the constituent peaks depend both on the urethane content and thermal history of the polymerr The morphological structure of the samples was evidenced using electron microscopy method.

Notes: Summary The dielectric relaxation processes in poly(azourethaneurea) prepared from diphenylmethane-4,4′-diisocyanate (MDI) and poly(ethylene adipate) glycol were studied in the range 200–390 K using thermally stimulated depolarization currents (TSDC). The TSDC spectra obtained on original sample, annealed sample, and both annealed and stretched sample showed significant differences which were explained in terms of the supramolecular structure of polymers. It was accepted that the polymers have a multiphase supramolecular structure.
