Notes:
A G/T substitution has been found in a 462 bp fragment produced by random PCR amplification (RAPD) of genomic DNA in bleak (Alburnus alburnus). Two bleak populations from the rivers Main and Danube were screened for the two variants by allele-specific PCR. The allele frequencies were 0.62 and 0.31 for variant T, and 0.38 and 0.69 for variant G in the river populations of Main and Danube, respectively. Allele frequencies differed significantly (P 〈 0.01).
