Notes: Abstract The influence of probenecid administration on 5HIAA and HVA concentrations in the CSF of depressed patients, was studied before and after treatment with imipramine or ECT. The average increase of the two metabolites in the CSF after probenecid was similar in the untreated depressed patients and in the same patients improved after both imipramine or ECT treatment. The treatment determined a significant increase in the CSF concentration of the acid metabolites also before the probenecid administration.

Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000
    Topics: Medicine
Notes: Abstract A case of a 19-year-old man with a one-year history of attacks of hypersomnia lasting several hours or days fitted the description of the Kleine-Levin-Critchley sindrome. CT scanning showed a hypodense area consisting of ectopic tissue of lipid consistency lying in the interpeduncular cistern. In the light of this finding the autonomy of the syndrome seems questionable, since it differs only clinically from the other symptomatic forms of hypersomnia or narcolepsy.
