    Description / Table of Contents: Crystal and Molecular Structure of 6,6-Bis(dimethylamino)fulvene6,6-Bis(dimethylamino)fulvene crystallizes in the space group Pn21a, the lattice constants being ao = 13.344 Å, bo = 7.844 Å and co = 9.438 Å. The structure has been solved by superposition and by direct methods in the space group Pnma. The structure was refined by block-diagonal-least-squares to R = 0.037.
    Notes: Das 6,6-Bis(dimethylamino)fulven kristallisiert in der Raumgruppe Pn21a mit den Gitter-konstanten ao = 13.344 Å, bo = 7.844 Å und co = 9.438 Å. Die Struktur wurde durch Superposition und anschließende Resymmetrisierung der Patterson-Funktion und mit direkten Methoden in der zentrosymmetrischen Obergruppe Pnma gelöst.

    Description / Table of Contents: Crystal- and Molecular Structure of (+)-Benzylmethyl-α-naphthylphenylphosphonium Bromide(+)-Benzylmethyl-α-naphthylphenylphosphonium bromide crystallizes in the space group P212121 with four molecules in the unit cell of dimensions a = 22.12 Å, b = 9.89 Å, c = 9.49 Å. The crystal structure was solved by the heavy atom method and refined to R = 0.058. Taking care of the anomalous dispersion effect the absolute configuration turned out to be a R-configuration.
    Notes: (+)-Benzylmethyl-α-naphthylphenylphosphonium-bromid kristallisiert in der Raumgruppe P212121 mit den Gitterkonstanten a = 22.12 Å, b = 9.89 Å,c = 9.49Å und mit vier Molekülen in der Elementarzelle. Die Struktur wurde nach der Schweratommethode aufgeklärt und bis zu einem R-Wert von 5.8% verfeinert. Unter Berücksichtigung der anomalen Dispersion konnte die absolute Konfiguration ermittelt werden, es liegt R-Konfiguration vor.

    Description / Table of Contents: Thiocarbonyl Ylides of Fluorene9-Bromofluorene (5) reacts with a number of thioureas 6 to form the thiuronium salts 7; 7f, g are only obtained after the addition of silver nitrate. Deprotonation of 7e-g leads to the unstable thiocarbonyl ylides 3e-g, which decompose to generate the corresponding thioureas and 9,9′-bifluorenylidene (8). Deprotonation of 7a-d yields the isothioureas 10a-d, which form an equilibrium with their tautomeric thiocarbonyl ylides 3a-d. An X-ray analysis of 10a confirms the structure as isothiourea in the crystalline state.
    Notes: Aus 9-Bromfluoren (5) und verschiedenen Thioharnstoffen 6 bilden sich die entsprechenden Thiuroniumsalze 7, teilweise erst unter dem gleichgewichtsverschiebenden Einfluß von Silber-Kationen (7f, g). Durch Deprotonierung entstehen entweder die instabilen, spektroskopisch nachweisbaren Thiocarbonyl-Ylide 3e-g, die schnell in Thioharnstoff und 9,9′-Bifluorenyliden (8) zerfallen oder die Isothioharnstoffe 10a-d, die in Lösung mit ihren tautomeren Thiocarbonyl-Yliden 3a-d im Gleichgewicht stehen. Eine Röntgenstrukturanalyse von 10a bestätigt das ausschließliche Vorliegen der Isothioharnstoffstruktur in kristalliner Form.

Synthesis and Properties of o-Quinoid Donor/Acceptor Substituted Allenes Crystal- and Molecule Structure of E-2,2,2′,2′-Tetraethoxy-Δ3,3′(2H,2′H)-bi[phenanthro[9,10-b]furan]Reaction of the (2,2-diethoxyvinylidene)triphenylphosphorane (7) with the o-quinones 6 yields the donor/acceptor allene intermediates 9 via the oxaphosphetanes 8. The allenes 9 give the carbenes 10 which then spontaneously dimerize forming the olefins 11. The temperature dependence of the 1H NMR spectra leads to insights into the diastereomerization of the torsionally distorted olefins 11b and the conformational mobility of the E-isomer. Acidic hydrolysis of the Z/E-isomeric orthoesters 11a leads to the monolactone 12 and the bislactone 13. The monomers 9/10 can be trapped by triphenylphosphane affording the orthoester-phosphoranes 14 which under elimination of ether give the phosphoranes 16. The structure of the E-dimer 11 b has been determined from X-ray data.
    Notes: Bei der Umsetzung des (2,2-Diethoxyvinyliden)triphenylphosphorans (7) mit den o-Chinonen 6 entstehen über die Oxaphosphetane 8 intermediär die Donor/Akzeptor-Allene 9. Diese gehen in die Carbene 10 über, die dann spontan zu den Olefinen 11 dimerisieren. Die Temperaturabhängigkeit der 1H-NMR-Spektren liefert Einblick in die Diastereomerisierung der verdrillten Olefine 11b und die konformative Beweglichkeit des E-Isomeren. Die saure Hydrolyse der Z/E-isomeren Orthoester 11a führt über das Monolacton 12 zu dem Bislacton 13. Die Monomeren 9/10 lassen sich mit Triphenylphosphan unter Bildung der Orthoester-phosphorane 14 abfangen, die sich durch Eliminierung von Ether zu den Phosphoranen 16 stabilisieren. Die Struktur des E-Dimeren 11b wurde röntgendiffraktometrisch bestimmt.

The structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction using direct methods. The seven-membered ring exists in a big vaulted boat conformation with the oxygen of the sulfoxide function in exo-position.
    Notes: 3,5-Dimethoxy-4-phenyl-1-benzothiepin-1-oxid kristallisiert in der rhombischen Raumgruppe P212121. Die Struktur der Verbindung wurde, röntgenographisch mittels direkter Methoden bestimmt. Der Siebenring besitzt eine stark aufgewölbte Bootform mit exo-ständigem Sauerstoff der Sulfoxid-Funktion.
