Notes: Abstract The reactions pn → dω and pn → dφ are investigated near the corresponding thresholds. The S-wave amplitudes are calculated within the two-step model described by a triangle graph with π, ρ, and ω mesons in the intermediate state. The cross sections for the reactions pn → dω and pn → dφ are predicted to be significantly larger than the cross sections for the corresponding reactions pp → ppω and pp → ppφ at the same values of the c.m. excess energy Q. The phi-to-omega yield ratio is found to be (34±10)×10−3.

Notes: Abstract K −-meson production in proton-nucleus interactions at projectile energies up to 15 GeV is studied. As a first step the available data onK −-meson production inpp interactions are compared with different parametrizations and results of model calculations. Because of considerable uncertainties in the current descriptions of the energy dependence of the elementaryK − cross section a new parametrization is suggested. Experimental data on K− production in pA collisions are analyzed in the framework of the Rossendorf-Collision and folding models. Satisfactory descriptions of the momentum spectra at forward angles are achieved. From an analysis of theA dependence it can be concluded thatK − mesons are well suited to investigate final-state interactions for particles interacting strongly with the residual nucleus. Furthermore, we propose experimental studies onK − production close to threshold. Such measurements are particularly sensitive to contributions from secondary processes or from multi-nucleon interactions.

Notes: Abstract: We explore the possibility to measure the elastic and inelastic ωN cross section in p+d→d+ω+p sp and p+A reactions. Our studies indicate that the elastic scattering cross sections can be determined for ω momenta above 1 GeV/c in p+d reactions by gating on high proton spectator momenta whereas the ωN absorption cross section down to low relative ω momenta is most effectively studied in p+A reactions at beam energies 2.0–2.7 GeV.

Notes: Abstract: We investigate the reactions πN↦a 0 N and pp↦da 0 + near threshold and at medium energies. An effective Lagragian approach and the Regge pole model are applied to analyze different contributions to the cross-section of the reaction πN↦a 0 N. These results are used to calculate the differential and total cross-sections of the reaction pp↦da 0 + within the framework of the two-step model in which two nucleons produce an a0-meson via π-meson exchange and fuse to a deuteron. The necessity of new measurements on a0 production and branching fractions (of its decay to the K and πη channels) is emphasized for clarifying the a0 structure. Detailed predictions for the reaction pp→da 0 + are presented for the energy regime of the proton synchrotron COSY-Jülich.

Notes: Abstract We analyzed theK + production at projectile energies below the free nucleon-nucleon threshold in proton-nucleus collisions and studied the contribution from different reaction channels to this process. It was shown that the secondary pion-nucleon (π+N→Λ+K +) channel significantly prevails over the direct (p+N→Λ+N+K +) one. The momentum and angularK + spectra were calculated in the framework of different production channels in order to propose experimental measurements which allow to distinguish the mechanisms discussed. We also studiedK + d correlations and considered the deuteron reabsorption in the nuclear medium as well as the fast deuteron background. The features ofK + p correlations related to the different production channels were analyzed as well.

Notes: Abstract Deuteron formation in proton-nucleus reactions due to the coalescence mechanism with final-state interaction between nucleons is discussed in order to establish the kinematical region of the validity of this approach. The experimental data on fast deuteron production in proton-nucleus collisions at bombarding energies above 3 GeV are analyzed. It is shown that most experimental results were obtained for deuteron momenta below the critical limit of the coalescence model. It is discussed to which extent further experimental studies could help to identify contributions from the coalescence mechanism and to get better understanding of the fast deuteron-production process.
