Notes: Abstact: Within the one-pion exchange model we calculate the near-threshold η′ production from pp collisions including the final state interaction between the protons. Since the description of the data is quite well we conclude that η, ρ or ω exchange currents either play no role or cancel each other to a large extent in this reaction.

Notes: Abstract: Simulations based on a coupled-channel transport model have been performed to analyze the feasibility to study the in-medium ω mass exploiting the process γ + A→π0γ + X for C, Ca and Nb nuclei. The distortions due to final-state interactions of the π0 and background contributions from the reaction γ + A→π0π0 + X are found to be small in the mass range of interest ( 0.6 〈 M π0γ 〈 0.8 GeV). Furthermore, the effect of the detector resolution on the π0γ mass determination is discussed.

Notes: Abstract: The possibility for an observation of a narrow penta-quark Z+-baryon in NN reactions is discussed. It is shown that the pp↦nΣ+ K + reaction at excess energies around 100 MeV above threshold provides optimal conditions for Z+-baryon detection by an analysis of the nK+ invariant mass spectrum, if the Z+ mass is located around 1.5 GeV involving a rather narrow width.

Notes: Abstract We consider annihilation pions scattering and absorption inside the nucleus to analyse fast proton production in $$\bar p$$ A annihilation. The method suggested allows description of both pion and proton spectra, particularly high energy proton tail. New experimental data obtained at LEAR are analysed and we have found an extraordinary behaviour of pion scattering and absorption probabilities depending on atomic number.

Notes: Abstract K −-meson production in proton-nucleus interactions at projectile energies up to 15 GeV is studied. As a first step the available data onK −-meson production inpp interactions are compared with different parametrizations and results of model calculations. Because of considerable uncertainties in the current descriptions of the energy dependence of the elementaryK − cross section a new parametrization is suggested. Experimental data on K− production in pA collisions are analyzed in the framework of the Rossendorf-Collision and folding models. Satisfactory descriptions of the momentum spectra at forward angles are achieved. From an analysis of theA dependence it can be concluded thatK − mesons are well suited to investigate final-state interactions for particles interacting strongly with the residual nucleus. Furthermore, we propose experimental studies onK − production close to threshold. Such measurements are particularly sensitive to contributions from secondary processes or from multi-nucleon interactions.

Notes: Abstract: We explore the possibility to measure the elastic and inelastic ωN cross section in p+d→d+ω+p sp and p+A reactions. Our studies indicate that the elastic scattering cross sections can be determined for ω momenta above 1 GeV/c in p+d reactions by gating on high proton spectator momenta whereas the ωN absorption cross section down to low relative ω momenta is most effectively studied in p+A reactions at beam energies 2.0–2.7 GeV.

Notes: Abstract: The available data on ω and φ production from πN and pp collisions are reanalyzed with respect to an OZI rule violation on the basis of transition matrix elements. The data are found to be compatible with a constant ratio R , which however, deviates substantially from the SU(3) prediction based on the present knowledge of the φ-ω mixing angle.

Notes: Abstract We analyzed theK + production at projectile energies below the free nucleon-nucleon threshold in proton-nucleus collisions and studied the contribution from different reaction channels to this process. It was shown that the secondary pion-nucleon (π+N→Λ+K +) channel significantly prevails over the direct (p+N→Λ+N+K +) one. The momentum and angularK + spectra were calculated in the framework of different production channels in order to propose experimental measurements which allow to distinguish the mechanisms discussed. We also studiedK + d correlations and considered the deuteron reabsorption in the nuclear medium as well as the fast deuteron background. The features ofK + p correlations related to the different production channels were analyzed as well.

Notes: Abstract Deuteron yields from 20–350 MeV kinetic energy in antiproton annihilation at rest in12C and238U targets are compared with a coalescence model calculation. Agreement of the data with the model up to approximately 80 MeV is good. However, from 80 to 350 MeV the model increasingly underestimates the yield, by as much as on order of magnitude. These results, along with previously reported failures to explain proton spectra with first order rescattering of pions, suggest that other mechanisms are manifest in relatively rare, high energy light nucleus emission, e.g.B 〉 0 annihilations or possible six quark interactions.
