Abstract New porous vitroceramic materials have been prepared by the controlled crystallization of calcium aluminophosphate foam glasses for use in prosthetic bone replacement. The technique of elaboration was developed using DTA measurements. A study was made of their principal properties: porosity, average pore diameter, interconnections between the pores and mechanical characteristics. The biological results are also briefly described.
